Mo te mahi - About the role - South Hokianga Catchment Restoration Project


Our organisation is looking for three Operations Kaimahi to join our catchment restoration team who will deliver freshwater restoration projects across the south Hokianga. Throughout the year the work will focus on the main tasks of fencing, eco sourcing (seed collection), plant propagation, site preparation, pest plant control, planting and releasing.

Our kaupapa is to restore the environment and build capability for improved freshwater management, and our project will ensure that our staff get the support and training they need in a supportive team environment. Earlier this year Hokianga Harbor Care won the Northland Regional Council award for Environmental Leadership and part of our work is connecting with our communities, iwi, and hapu through hui and workshops and sharing knowledge.

To be a successful candidate you will have:

  • A positive attitude, pay careful attention to detail and are willing to be part of a strong team that focuses on best practice and achieving excellent results.

  • An ability to learn new skills and deliver the field work to a high standard. A high level of fitness is desirable.

  • Be dedicated to building the reputation of our organization Hokianga Harbor Care Incorporated.

  • Understanding of health and safety compliance as the work includes use of herbicides, fungicides, machinery, and vehicles.

  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment.
